The Warriors of Hurracan portray Black Indian mas, a tradition that is well over 100 years old and is performed on the streets during Carnival seasonin Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. This mas symbolises the coming together of Indigenous and African traditions over centuries of colonisation. Through the costumes worn, they also mock the early Spanish conquistadors. Black Indians even have their own language and songs, with a clearly defined hierarchy within the band.

The Warriors of Hurracan are currently the only Black Indian band left in Trinidad and Tobago. Through their efforts, this vital aspect of cultural heritage is being preserved from near extinction.
