I went to Guadeloupe in January and February 2026 to document mas traditions there. This follows on work I have done in Trinidad, Grenada, Dominica, Montserrat and Nevis. These images show “mas a po” which is the tradition that drew me to Guadeloupe. It is incredible to experience such powerful human energy in the drums, conch shells, “sha shas” and call/response singing. I also love that this mas is always infused with incense and announced by the booming sound of “fwets” (whips).
