Parang is a festive, joyous music enjoyed across Trinidad and Tobago, especially during the Christmas season. The artform originated in Venezuela, featuring the cuatro, mandolin, guitar, marac, box bass and toc tocs as its main instruments. Brought to Trinidad by Venezuelan immigrants in the 19th century, it evolved into a distinct Trinidadian form with its own unique style.
